With enemy resistance completely broken by the armored breakthrough farther east and south of
us, the Battalion moved across the “Island” through LES MILLERIES across the Tautel river and on
down to an assembly area near CASTLEMAIS, France. It was here that the Battalion saw its first movie
and first USO show since landing in France. Some COD, rifle inspections and physical training helped
round out the days. The Battalion CP was set up in a large and luxurious chateau, which had formally
been a high German staff headquarters.
