The French Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor was created by Napoleon in 1802 to acknowledge services rendered to France by persons of great merit.

The French President is awarding this honor to World War II veterans who served in France during the War and meet certain other requirements.

If you were in France during the war and :

1). Served in Normandy, Northern France, Southern France or the Ardennes and

2). were wounded during this service

3) received the Purple Heart

4) received the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star, Silver Star or were a POW

You may qualify for this honor.

The awards are made by the French Consul General in a formal ceremony near you.
