If you have diabetes and have neuropathy, Medicare will pay for one pair of shoes or sneakers per year for you. A podiatrist will also cut your toe nails every three months and Medicare will pay for this service. My neighbor told me about this and I called their Podiatrist and he confirmed that this was true. I have diabetes (type2) and neuropathy and saw him a month ago and he cut my toe nails and ordered sneakers for me. Three weeks later, he called me and said my sneakers had arrived and come in and he would fit them to my feet. His assistant heats the insoles and fits them to my feet. He bills Medicare and I believe my supplemental insurance covers the rest. (20%) I have not received my statement from Medicare or my insurance yet. My neighbors both received their second pair of shoes a few days ago. I froze my feet at the "Battle of the Buldge" and believe that others who froze their feet in the service are entitled to this service from Medicare. Sincerely,
Rocky

Your posting caught my eye. We are trying to find proof that my father was there and had his boots frozen to his feet and had to have the boots cut off along with a lot of other guys. He told us the story, but there is no proof we can find. We have lots of paperwork that Dad had but can not find any info to help us. We have pics of frozen hands coming out of the snow, Dad took many pics. We just wish he took pics of his feet... I wish you well Mary Thomas Daughter of Ernest G Sachse Jr 2nd Lt 358 Infantry Regiment
We are looking for anyone who knew "Sgt Ernest G. Sachse Jr." 358th Infantry 90th Division 2nd Batallion when he served during the months of possibly November 1944 - January 1945. We do not know what company he was with. He was possibly with the 4th Armored. He became a 2nd Lt. in the Spring of 1945.
