Pedro J. Diaz, Jr. (Pete), age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Kerrville, Texas. Pedro (Pete) born on June 8, 1943 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Ret. SGT. Pedro J. Diaz, Sr. and Juanita Collazo Diaz, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Martha Perez Diaz; daughters, Lisa Marie Kelly and husband, John of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Ann Smith and husband, Christopher of Dallas, Texas, and son, Peter John Diaz of Universal City, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Rangel, Teagan Marie Kelly, and John "Jack" Kelly V. He is also survived by sisters, Minerva Lafontaine (Robert), Gloria Flaig (Michael), and Juanita Scott (Kenny); brothers, Victor Diaz, Jose (Magdeline) Diaz, Luis Diaz, and Hector (Janice) Diaz; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins and aunt, TiTi Carmen Collazo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and proudly served two tours of duty in the 4th Div. in Vietnam. He retired with 20 years of service (SSGT. & 90th Arcom Military Intelligence). Pete received numerous medals, including the Purple Heart, Good Conduct, RVN Medal with one Silver and three Bronze Stars, RVN Gallantry Cross, Army Commendation Medal, Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Commemorative Medal, RVN Campaign, Army Achievement, and Sharpshooter Marksman M14 Rifle Medal. He was employed at Ft. Sam Logistics and lastly with the U.S. Postal Service. Pete was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his grandkids, and his love of life and charisma made many friendships in his lifetime. His passion was reading, San Antonio Spurs, music, and dancing. He would always ask "Do you want to dance?" Now he is dancing in the skies of Heaven. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Porter Loring North.
