Murray Lifschultz, 92, of West Orange died Dec. 10, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, he was raised in Newark. He lived in Maplewood and North Plainfield before retiring to New Mexico and returning to New Jersey two years ago.

Mr. Lifschultz was the owner of Clinton Manor Caterers in Newark and Union for over 40 years.

He attended Central High School, Newark.

He was a combat medic in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe, where he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

He was a member of Oheb Shalom Congregation, South Orange. After moving to New Mexico he became a founding member and president of Rio Rancho Jewish Center.

He was a prolific builder of RC aircraft. He was an accomplished golfer, attaining six holes in one on different courses.

He found camaraderie at the JCC in West Orange, and wrote poetry and short stories after moving back to New Jersey.

Predeceased by his first wife, Elaine (Engber), and his second wife, Mary Jane (Fox), he is survived by his son, Aron (Susan Schottenfeld); his daughter, Rona (Stephen) Goldfarb; a brother, Albert of Florida; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
